Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) - The Cove part of Selworthy Special School

We are excited to offer a unique opportunity for a passionate and dedicated Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join our dynamic educational team at The Cove.  Being at the heart of creating an inclusive and stimulating learning environment, you will play a crucial role in supporting teachers and enhancing student achievement across a range of subjects.

Role Overview:

In this pivotal position, you will work closely with teaching staff, contributing to planning, preparing, and delivering educational activities. You'll have the opportunity to make significant impacts on students' learning journeys by providing targeted support to individuals and groups, thereby promoting engagement, motivation, and independence.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Assisting in the preparation and delivery of engaging lesson plans and materials.
  • Supporting teachers in assessing the development, progress, and attainment of students.
  • Providing focused support to individual students and small groups to enhance learning outcomes.
  • Contributing to the creation of a safe, inclusive, and motivating learning environment.
  • Implementing strategies to promote positive behaviour and effective classroom management.
  • Participating in professional development opportunities to continually enhance skills and knowledge.
  • Facilitating extracurricular activities and contributing to the school community.

Essential Qualifications and Skills:

  • HLTA status or equivalent, supported by relevant experience in an educational setting.

Salary and Contract

Salary: Grade 12

Hours: 32.5 hours a week

Hours of work: Monday – Friday, Term time only, plus INSETs for any statutory training, e.g. Safeguarding (39 Weeks)

Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
